Get the Most Out of Your Premium Soy Candles
At A Pillar of Light, we hand-pour each candle with care using 100% pure soy wax and premium fragrances. To help you enjoy your candles to their fullest potential, we've put together these essential candle care tips.
1. Trim Your Wick Before Every Burn
Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This simple step prevents excessive smoking, ensures an even burn, and helps your candle last longer. Use a wick trimmer or scissors for the best results.
2. Let the Wax Pool Reach the Edges
The first burn is the most important! Allow your candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the container (usually 2-4 hours). This prevents "tunneling" and ensures you get the most out of your candle.
3. Burn for the Right Amount of Time
Burn your candle for 2-4 hours at a time, but never more than 4 hours. This keeps the wick centered and prevents the container from overheating.
4. Keep Your Candle Clean
Remove any wick trimmings or debris from the wax pool before lighting. A clean candle burns more evenly and releases fragrance more effectively.
5. Store Candles Properly
Keep your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This preserves the fragrance and prevents discoloration. Always store with the lid on to keep dust out.
6. Know When to Stop
Stop burning your candle when only 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom. Continuing to burn beyond this point can cause the container to overheat.
7. Center the Wick
If you notice the wick drifting off-center while the wax is still melted, gently nudge it back to the center with a wick dipper or similar tool. Let it cool in the centered position.
